Measured, made and fitted properly. Light control, privacy and real heat reduction, installed by a joiner who can fix the reveal if it is not square.
A shutter fitted to an out-of-square opening will bind, gap down one edge and never sit flush. And most openings are out of square to some degree, particularly older Queenslanders and anything that has settled over a few decades.
Because Garry is a carpenter, joiner and cabinet maker, the opening gets properly assessed before anything is ordered. Where a reveal needs packing or a sub-frame needs making up, that is part of the job rather than a problem discovered on installation day.
Shutters do several jobs at once, which is why they suit this climate:
For rooms where shutters are not the right answer, we supply roller blinds and the Phantom shading range.
Block-out fabrics for bedrooms and media rooms, light-filtering for living areas, and solar mesh for the windows that cop the afternoon sun. Blinds can be specified alongside retractable screens on the same opening where you want shade and insect protection together.
Custom made to the opening, in a range of blade sizes and colours.
Block-out, light-filtering and solar mesh fabrics.
The full Phantom shading range for windows of any size.
Blades, tilt rods and hinges repaired rather than replaced.
Finishes matched to existing joinery and window frames.
Shutters or blinds specified alongside screens on the same opening.
Existing blinds or curtains gone mouldy? We clean those too, see mould cleaning.
Every window gets measured on site. Tell us how many openings and we will arrange a free measure.

Shutters are custom made to your openings, so allow a few weeks between measure and installation. We confirm the timeframe when we quote, once blade size and finish are locked in.
For west-facing glass, generally yes, because the blades can be angled to deflect direct sun while still allowing airflow. For bedrooms where full darkness matters, a block-out roller blind is the better answer.
Yes, and most openings are out of square to some degree. The opening is assessed first, and where a reveal needs packing or a sub-frame made up, that is done as part of the installation.
Yes. Broken blades, loose tilt rods and worn hinges can usually be repaired without replacing the whole panel.
